Voluntary Treasurer – Worle Community Association

Worle Community Association is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) responsible for the management and operation of Worle Community Centre, located on Lawrence Road, Worle. We are seeking a suitably qualified individual with a financial background to succeed our current Treasurer, who will shortly be stepping down.

The Treasurer is normally appointed as a Trustee and plays a key role in the effective financial governance of the Association. The main responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining accurate financial records, currently held on Excel spreadsheets, with the potential to migrate to an accounting software package in the future.

  2. Managing the identification, invoicing, and banking of income due to the Association, primarily derived from lettings to regular and casual users of the Community Centre. Records are currently supported by an electronic booking diary.

  3. Liaising with fellow Trustees regarding discussions with prospective new users of the Centre.

  4. Making payments on behalf of the Association in accordance with agreed procedures.

  5. Monitoring the Association’s bank account and preparing monthly bank reconciliations.

  6. Preparing the annual budget in consultation with the Trustees.

  7. Providing regular (normally monthly) financial reports to the Trustees, comparing actual income and expenditure against the approved budget.

  8. Advising the Trustees on the financial implications of proposed activities and initiatives.

  9. Preparing the annual accounts, arranging for independent examination, and submitting the required returns to the Charity Commission following approval at the Annual General Meeting.

  10. Administering annual maintenance contracts.

  11. Ensuring that the Association maintains appropriate and adequate insurance cover.

This is a voluntary position and offers an opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the local community through effective financial stewardship.
